Reclaim the Yard, Beat the Repair Bill, or Prep the Sale
Aging In-Ground Pool
A 30- or 40-year-old concrete pool the current owner doesn’t use or want to maintain — reclaiming the space for expanded lawn, a garden, a workshop pad, or hardscape. Structurally sound but no longer wanted. Polk Services runs the full workflow — permit, deck, shell, fill, and grading — in the 48+ hour window.
Damaged or Leaking Pool
Older pools crack, leak, and shift from ground settlement or storm damage. Repair estimates can exceed $15,000 — full removal often costs less and ends the chemistry-and-maintenance burden for good. Polk Services quotes the removal alongside any repair estimates you already have, so you can compare.
Selling the Home
For some listings, an older pool is a liability — buyers see maintenance costs, insurance concerns, and future repairs. Pre-listing pool demolition turns a hard-to-sell listing into a clean-yard property that appeals to a wider buyer pool. Realtor volume pricing available.

Our Process, Start to Finish
Call or text to schedule a walk-through
Reach Donny directly at (863) 344-5806. Pool demo scope requires an on-site evaluation — size, depth, deck footprint, equipment access, and utility location all affect the quote. Photos help but don’t replace the walk-through. Estimates are free.
Permit assistance & utility disconnection
Polk County requires a permit under the Florida Building Code — Polk Services assists with the application as part of the quote. At the same time, pool-equipment utility disconnections (water, electric, gas) are coordinated with the providers before demo starts.
Verbal + texted quote — timeline included
Every pool demo is priced with the projected timeline spelled out. Standard in-ground pools with a moderate deck finish in 48 to 72 hours; larger pools or difficult access run longer. The quote covers demo, shell-debris handling, fill dirt, compaction, grading, and disposal.
Day 1 — equipment, drainage & deck demo
Remove pool equipment, jackhammer drainage holes in the shell bottom to evacuate remaining water, then demolish the concrete deck. Deck concrete is pushed to the cavity or staged as fill. The Kubota or full-size Cat handles most of the mechanical work.
Day 2 — shell demolition & fill
Break the pool shell into manageable pieces and push them into the cavity as fill — the cavity fills gradually as the shell comes apart, keeping the trip count down. Clean fill dirt then goes on top to bring the grade back level with the surrounding yard.
Day 3+ — compaction, grading & rake-clean
Compact the fill so the site doesn’t settle over time, grade so drainage runs away from the house, and rake-clean the footprint. On extended-scope jobs this can run into a fourth workday. The written quote spells out the projected finish date.
Pricing, Permits & What’s Included
Standard Project Scope
Standard in-ground concrete pool demolition (typical residential size, moderate deck footprint) is quoted per project with a written all-inclusive number. Deck-only demolition (leaving the shell for later) is a separate scope. Above-ground pool removal is quoted separately and is simpler.
What the Quote Includes
Permit assistance, utility disconnection coordination, pool-equipment removal, deck demo, shell demo, fill dirt, compaction, grading, and disposal fees — all-inclusive. The number on the written quote is your cost: no surprise facility fees, trip charges, or scope-creep upcharges unless you change the scope.
Permit Assistance
Polk County requires a permit for in-ground pool demolition under the Florida Building Code. Polk Services assists with the application, submits the documentation, and coordinates inspections as part of the standard quote — included, not a separate charge.
Bundle With Follow-On Work
Pool demos leave a decision about the footprint. Polk Services bundles the demo with new sod for a lawn, gravel base for a driveway, grading and site prep for a future structure, or a landscape reset — below what separate contractors would charge.
Payment Terms
Cash, check, credit/debit, Venmo, Zelle, and Cash App (3.7% fee on card/electronic; cash and check free). Pool demolitions typically require 20–50% down before work starts, with the balance due on completion. The exact schedule is on the written quote.

Seven Details That Separate a Polk Services Pool Demo From a Shortcut
Jackhammer Drainage Holes First
The first mechanical step is holing the shell bottom — it lets remaining pool water evacuate into the ground (no pumping empty first) and lets groundwater drain if the table is shallow. Skipping it means fighting standing water for the whole demo.
Shell Debris as Fill
Once broken, the shell pieces go INTO the cavity rather than out to disposal, displacing volume that would otherwise need fill dirt. Clean dirt tops it to grade — which is why pool-demo trip counts are lower than pure concrete demo; most debris stays on-site.
Fill Compaction in Lifts
Sandy fill settles if not compacted. Polk Services compacts in 6–8 inch lifts — more time-consuming than dump-and-grade, but what prevents uneven settlement 5–10 years later, so you can plan future lawn, garden, or hardscape on the site.
Utility Disconnection
Pool equipment runs on water (autofill), electric (pump/filter/heater), and sometimes gas. All three need proper disconnection — cut lines, capped connections, utility-verified shut-off — coordinated as the first step, before the jackhammer touches the shell.
Pool Plumbing Removal
Underground lines run to skimmers, returns, main drain, and cleaner ports. Orphaned pipe left under fill can collapse into a low spot and complicate future work. Polk Services removes accessible plumbing and marks or removes lines that would otherwise be buried.
Screen-Enclosure Sequencing
The cage can come off at the start (equipment access from all sides) or at the end (cleaner work area during demo). Polk Services picks the order by cage size, access, and customer preference — spelled out on the quote.
Final Grading Away From the House
The last step grades surface drainage away from the house — not optional. A footprint at or above surrounding grade with poor drainage ponds in summer rain. Polk Services grades to a slight away-slope so the site stays dry after every rainfall.
