Three Situations We Handle Every Week

Almost Every Call Falls Into One of Three Patterns

01

Old or Leaning Sheds

The most common call. A wood shed that’s leaned, rotted at the base, lost shingles, or been flagged by code enforcement. Demolished with heavy machinery in a single workday, debris hauled, footprint raked clean and ready.

02

Hurricane-Damaged Structures

Sheds crushed by falling trees, gazebos flattened by wind, damaged pool cages and screen enclosures. Post-storm demo runs the same rate card — no surge pricing. Insurance-claim customers get an itemized invoice for the adjuster.

03

Larger Structure Removal

Old mobile homes on rural property, block homes coming down before new construction, backyard workshops that outlasted their use. Quoted per project with a written all-inclusive number, most done in one to three workdays.

Our Process, Start to Finish

01

Call, text, or fill out the estimate form

Reach Donny directly at (863) 344-5806. Text wide shots of the whole structure, close-ups of the foundation type, any damage, and a shot of the access — driveway approach, gate width, and where a truck and trailer can park.

02

Free estimate — photo quote or walk-through

For standard backyard sheds a photo quote is usually accurate. For larger outbuildings, mobile homes, or an unclear foundation, an on-site walk-through prices it right. Either way, the estimate is free.

03

Utility & hazard check before demo starts

Before the equipment works, Polk Services confirms utility disconnection and spot-checks pre-1980 structures for asbestos-suspect siding and lead paint. Any positive finding stops the job for abatement coordination first.

04

Verbal quote plus a texted written quote

Every demo is priced twice. The written quote includes the projected timeline, the foundation-removal option, and any specialty disposal fees — quoted upfront, before any work starts.

05

Heavy-machinery demo & mechanical haul

The Kubota SCL1000 or the Cat full-size skid steer takes the structure down mechanically rather than by hand. Debris is hauled to the correct facility by material type — clean wood, mixed construction, block, or dense metal.

06

Walk through & rake-clean the footprint

The last 30 minutes is a walk-through with you (or by photo) and a rake-clean. The footprint leaves ready for what’s next — new construction, sod install, or open lawn. A grading pass is available as an add-on.

What It Costs

Pricing, Foundation Options & What’s Included

Minimums & Per-Project Pricing

$300 minimum for small structures and playhouse-scale demolition. Standard backyard sheds (8×8 to 12×16) are quoted per project, with the exact number on the written quote before work starts. Larger outbuildings, mobile homes, and block homes are quoted per project with a written all-inclusive number and projected timeline.

Foundation Removal — Your Choice

Every quote includes two options. Option A: demolish down to the slab or piers and leave the foundation, footprint raked clean. Option B: demolish and remove the foundation to below grade, footprint graded and raked. Option A costs less; Option B leaves the site ready for whatever’s next. Both prices are on the quote.

Specialty Considerations, Upfront

Utility-disconnect coordination, asbestos-suspect siding requiring abatement, lead-paint disposal on pre-1978 structures, and mobile-home anchor removal are each flagged during the walk-through and priced as a line item — so there are no surprises.

Bundle Pricing

Combining a shed demo with a stump grind, fence removal, landscape reset, or gravel driveway brings the total below what separate contractors would charge. Ask on the estimate call and Donny will structure the bundle.

Payment Terms

Cash, check, credit/debit, Venmo, Zelle, and Cash App accepted. A 3.7% processing fee applies to card and electronic payments; cash and check have no fee. Payment on completion for standard sheds; larger multi-day demos may require 20–50% down.

FAQ

Shed Demolition Questions

How long does a standard shed demolition take?
Most standard backyard sheds (8×8 to 12×16, wood frame, standard foundation) come down, get hauled, and leave a raked-clean footprint in a single workday. Larger structures, mobile homes, and multi-day demos are quoted with a projected timeline on the written quote.
Do you demolish mobile homes and block homes?
Yes. Polk Services has removed single-wide and (case-by-case) double-wide mobile homes, block homes, workshops, and larger outbuildings. These are quoted per project with a written all-inclusive number and typically run one to three workdays.
How much does shed demolition cost?
Standard backyard sheds are quoted per project — most residential sheds as a range, with the exact amount on the written quote before work starts. Larger structures, mobile homes, and block homes are quoted per project. Foundation removal is a separate line item, so you choose whether to leave or remove it.
Do you take down the foundation too, or just the structure?
Your choice — every quote includes both prices. Option A demolishes down to the foundation and leaves it; Option B demolishes and removes it to below grade so the footprint is ready for new construction or sod.
What if the shed had electricity running to it?
Utility disconnection must occur before demolition. Polk Services confirms the status at the walk-through. If lines are still live or can’t be verified, the demo start is held until the utility company confirms. It’s a safety hold, not an upcharge.
What about asbestos or lead paint on older sheds?
For pre-1980 structures, Polk Services walks the shed with a suspect-material eye. If siding, roofing, or interior materials look like candidates, the demo stops for a licensed abatement referral before continuing.
Can you demolish a shed damaged by Hurricane Milton or another storm?
Yes. Post-storm structural demolition runs the same rate card as pre-storm work. Damaged sheds, gazebos, playhouses, and outbuildings get demolished and hauled in one job. Insurance-claim customers get an itemized written invoice suitable for adjuster submission.
Can you get through my backyard gate?
The Kubota SCL1000 fits through a standard 36-inch backyard gate, so Polk Services can demo a backyard shed without removing fence panels first. If your gate is narrower, call and describe the access.
Is debris hauling included, or separate?
Debris hauling is included in every shed demolition quote. The per-project number covers demo, haul, and disposal. Facility-specific fees (concrete recycling, metal recycling, landfill) are quoted as line items when they apply.
What if code enforcement is pushing a deadline?
Polk Services performs code-driven demolition within the county’s response window and provides written completion documentation to send to code enforcement. Call as soon as the notice arrives — the earlier the conversation, the more calendar room there is.

Local Conditions

Seven Polk County Realities That Shape Shed Demolition Here

1

Fast Wood-Shed Decay

Year-round humidity of 74–78%, June–September rain, and real termite pressure rot wood sheds fast — one that lasts 30 years in Arizona often comes down at year 12–18 here. The climate steadily rebuilds the demolition customer base.

2

Rural Single-Wide Mobile Homes

The corridors near Frostproof, Fort Meade, and Bartow outskirts hold many 1970s–80s single-wides on multi-acre parcels. When land is inherited or a unit is condemned, they come down — the Cat does the demo, the trailer makes multiple disposal trips.

3

Citrus-Era Block Outbuildings

The citrus legacy left many mid-century block pack houses, workshops, and outbuildings. Block demo runs differently from wood — heavy machinery breaks it down, and clean block goes to recycling while rebar-mixed block goes to landfill.

4

Hurricane Structural Damage

Milton (2024) drove structural demo across the county — sheds, gazebos, and playhouses down under trees or wind, and outbuildings condemned after the storm. Post-storm demo runs the same rate card, with itemized invoices for claims.

5

Code-Enforcement Timelines

County code enforcement occasionally flags unsafe or setback-violating outbuildings, setting a 30–60 day response window. Polk Services runs code-driven demo within the county timeline and provides written completion documentation to submit.

6

Multi-Generational Outbuildings

Some parcels have been in one family for generations — a grandfather’s workshop, an uncle’s barn, a father’s coop on the same 5 acres. Polk Services quotes multi-structure demolition as a single project, taken down in sequence over multiple workdays.

7

Utility-Disconnection Reality

Most rural outbuildings had power run to them at some point — some had water, a few gas. Disconnection must be confirmed with the utility, not assumed by age. Polk Services coordinates the check at the walk-through and holds demo until it’s confirmed.

The Expertise

Seven Details That Separate a Polk Services Shed Demo

1

Heavy Machinery vs Hand Dismantling

A 10×12 wood shed by hand takes a two-person crew a full day; the Kubota with a grapple takes it down mechanically in 60–90 minutes. Across utility check, foundation removal, and haul, that time-savings is why one workday is a real number, not a claim.

2

Mobile-Home Sequencing

Anchor cables cut first, wall panels down end-to-end next, roof deck peeled after the walls open, steel frame sectioned last to metal recycling. Wrong sequence risks the roof collapsing during wall removal — dangerous and slow to fix.

3

Block vs Frame Demo

Block breaks down differently — a hydraulic breaker or bucket cracks it into manageable pieces. Clean block goes to concrete recycling at a reduced rate; rebar-mixed or contaminated block goes to landfill. The quote reflects the actual facility path.

4

Foundation Removal Depth

Slabs are easy to leave; block piers can stay but block clean future building; wood posts rot and should almost always come out. Polk Services flags the foundation type and prices both options — leave-in-place vs remove-to-below-grade — as a clean line item.

5

Debris Separation for Accurate Fees

A shed produces mixed debris — wood framing, shingles, some drywall, metal fasteners, insulation — each with a different per-ton fee. Polk Services separates during demo (clean wood, mixed construction, metal) so each load hits the correct rate and the total tracks the quote.

6

Pre-1980 Asbestos & Lead ID

Pre-1980 structures can have asbestos in tile, siding, or roofing; pre-1978 can have lead paint. Both need licensed abatement, not a mask and a hope. Polk Services walks pre-1980 structures with a suspect-material eye and stops for referral if anything looks like a candidate.

7

Post-Demo Grading Pass

Foundation removal leaves a low spot and multi-day demo leaves equipment tracks — both pool water if unaddressed. Polk Services quotes a 30–45 minute grading pass into the bundle when needed, so the footprint leaves ready for what’s next.
